The Story of On 3
Cape George Marine Works and it's famous owner Cecil Lange, sold completely kitted out boats or sold partially built boats for their owners to finish at whatever stage the owner decides. In the early years of the yard, you would find many owners building their boats in the Cape George yard. While the practice of building a Cape George by owner is less practiced, Cape George Marine Works still welcomes the owner that desires a retrofit or assistance from the yard to give their boat a needed spa treatment. That's what we did in 2017. We had On 3 shipped to the Cape George Marine Works yard where they made repairs to the bulkhead beams, installed all new mahogany toe rails, a new bow sprit and essentially ensured she is a dry boat on the inside. After their work we lived in the yard for a year replacing all the electrical, electronics, plumbing and much of the Sunbrella. We also attended to all the brightwork that is what makes these boats beautiful. In 2018 we replaced all the standing rigging and as needed replaced the running rigging. The boat was painted along with the mast and boom. New custom sails were installed in 2021 and she became a new boat!
Aesthetics
On 3 once again stands out. Her hull and decks were completely painted in 2018 and all deck hardware removed, cleaned and reinstalled using industry standards (as taught by Cape George Marine Works staff) to prevent any leaking or rotting. Her main salon has oiled thick mahogany flooring to guard against slipping.
On 3's settees are 6 feet long with lee clothes where cruisers can sleep while underway. The lee clothes include pockets to allow for phones, headsets or books to be within easy reach.
On 3's mahogany beams and gleaming white walls in contrast with the shine of the bronze portholes and fixtures makes a breathtaking first impression when someone comes down below. The standing chart table just makes sense and lends its own aesthetic as a piece of furniture.

Everyone who comes aboard comments on the armoire to be found mid ship aft of the salon and the secretary desk placed next to the V-berth. Visitors also comment on the spacious 8 ft cockpit that has held 8 people for sundowners and allows cruisers to stretch out and sleep in the cockpit during passages. Lastly, everyone always loves the wide unobstructed side decks.
